EBONY & SHELLY ARE HAVING A BABY GIRL!

A beautiful couple having a beautiful baby girl! Her name? “ Addison Marie Bishop” Due on December 15th. Ebony decided to give her precious daughter my Mothers middle name....she would be so proud.

Ebony makes pregnancy look glamorous!  I sure don't recall looking like a Model when I was 7 MONTHS PREGNANT! I was shaped more like a very wide BOTTLE!  But Ebony played Basketball for years so she's all muscle and baby :-).

Cake time! I so wished I could be there to make her cake but I made this topper and shipped it to Alabama. UPS still ROCKS! Not a scratch!

Ebony and "Uncle Terrance".

Aunt Wanda

Aunt Jerry and daughter Jazlen who looks like her twin when Jerry was that age. It's weird when you watch your child grow up and they morph into YOU...it's kind of creepy, I see it in my daughter now. Not to mention it makes you feel old as dirt! But that's ok, as far as I'm concerned "50" is the new "30"!! (thought I would say 40 didn't you.. :-).

I'd imagine by the expressions on the faces they are playing the "Baby Food" smelling game??? In a Jar in a Diaper it's still yucky!

Is that the guest of honor writing.....

"Thank You" notes  at her shower??? YOU GO GIRL!

Congratulations Ebony and Shelly! You're going to LOVE Parenthood...(well, MOST of the time, I PROMISE! :-).

Congratulations Andrew!

Eagle Scout Promotion Cake.

The cake, moist dark chocolate filled with our rich Oreo cookie filling and our homemade chocolate ganache that brings out all of the Oreo chocolaty (is that a word?..well, it is now :-) goodness!...YUM!

Father & Son, how sweet.

Fearful or Fearless?

In this photo I see bones on the floor and REALLY hungry looking Lions, then I see this calm, serene person totally un-focused on the danger behind him but looking up. Some would probably see him as a stupid and oblivious man in need of a SERIOUS reality check!

Rev Charles Stanley was talking about this photo and that he saw a man not focused on his obvious circumstances but looking up and focusing on God and His power to control them.

So the next time you feel surrounded by an unwanted circumstance that is beyond your control keep in mind that God can TOTALLY handle it :-).

Our Children Are Precious Cargo

While driving my daughter to school this morning only a few blocks from arriving I saw a Bike partially under a car. I was praying whomever it was that they were ok with Ambulance, Police and Fire all over the place. They were on their way to school but thankfully found to be ok and the Parent took them home without injury though probably pretty shaken.

School zones are such a busy area with Parents rushing to get kids to school and kids rushing to get to school. But I resigned to slow down and think of our kids first because I was one of those impatient Parents trying to get my child to school on time, some days it's like being on the battle field watching folks cut you off like there’s money involved or their life depended upon being first to sit at a red light before turning into the school.

But I'm reminded of the precious cargo I carry every morning and how God has entrusted that to me. Seeing that accident this morning made me remember that NOTHING is more important than arriving safely (anywhere). If you're late for work that can be forgiven and made up. But if you accidently hit a child causing serious injury, that's something that will stay with you for life.

My Journals

I began keeping prayer journals in the mid 90's, I’ve written in those journals my prayers and things I've learned, my feelings, likes, dis-likes, good times and bad…etc,  as I read my quiet time each morning. I'm thankful for those journals now because there are so many of them and my daughter can still have a piece of Mom when it's my time to leave this earth. She can look back on them and see my thoughts on different passages in the bible and maybe even something to help her through the difficult times.  I have a Life Application Bible that's so worn it's falling apart but that is something I will leave my daughter as well because I've left what I call “love notes”  in it for her as I marked passages and put the date I read it and underlined certain notes and scriptures with a message like "Remember this- Love Mom".

I was raised by my Grandmother and would have loved to have owned her personal bible as I passed her room some nights and saw her many times reading her open Bible with only the light of her night stand lamp. Even though I don't have it she made a lasting impression that learning from the Word of God is more precious than anything I'll ever do. I think she would be proud that I actually paid attention (I was a hard headed little girl with a “mean streak” as I remember her calling it :-). Her actions spoke to me louder than her words ever did and for that...I'm very grateful.

PRAYER CHANGES THINGS...AND US

As you pray for the elections....remember to pray for yourselves as well.

 2 Chronicles 7:14
“If my people, who are called by
my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from
their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin
and will heal their land”. As we begin being healed from the inside
out....God will take care of the rest.
